Extract: MSW Trommel Screen
The MSW (Municipal Solid Waste) Trommel Screen, also referred to as a rotary screen, is a mechanical screening machine used to separate municipal solid waste into size fractions. It includes a rotating, perforated cylindrical drum that is elevated at the feed end. Physical size separation, or classification, is achieved as the feed material travels down the rotating drum. Material smaller than the screen perforations, or undersize material, passes through the screen during transit, whilst material larger than the screen perforations, or oversized material, exits at the output end of the drum.
The main factors affecting the screening efficiency and production rate are the rotational velocity of the drum, screen perforation open area, mass flow rate of the feed, size of the drum, and inclination of trommel screen. All key performance characteristics may be varied in the Organics Trommel Screen.
