In 2015, world leaders met and agreed to work together to eliminate poverty, solve climate change challenges and build more resilient societies. The 2030 Agenda is the actual blueprint for sustainable development, outlining 17 action items that will be resolved by 2030.
The Future Starts Now is a visually beautiful film relaying our responsibility to look after everyone and everything on the planet “unto the seventh generation.” It is Narrated by Chief Oren Lyons of the Onondaga Council of Chiefs, who is also featured in the film.
In 1972, the United Nations held a conference on the human environment that resulted in the Sustainable Development Report. The concept of sustainable development is to honor the rights of all people to an environmentally friendly future by putting to a halt the unsustainable practices – the over-dependence on fossil fuels, resulting in the acceleration of global climate change, and development practices which cause the destruction of species and natural resources. The Sustainable Development Report proposes a blueprint for change, inspired by input from industrialized and developing nations, indigenous people, governments, communities, and other concerned groups from around the planet. Through better communication, nations and communities can cooperate much more easily to achieve their goal.
